Khomani Desert San - Northern Cape, South Africa

The San are the aboriginal people of South Africa. Their distinct hunter-gatherer culture stretches back over 20 000 years, and their genetic origins reach back over one million years. Recent research indicates that the San are the oldest genetic stock of contemporary humanity.

The Types of Articles that Perform Well on MyPR

In a nutshell: Informative, solve a problem, timeous, good SEO, selective links to more information.

Here at MyPR we get a monthly synopsis from Google Analytics showing our performance on Google Search.

For a number of months now the Top four highest performing press releases on MyPR have been the same you see below:

  1. https://mypr.co.za/error-017-on-your-prepaid-water-meter-what-it-means-and-how-to-fix-it/
  2. https://mypr.co.za/my-prepaid-meter-has-stopped-working-and-wont-accept-any-tokens-7-easy-troubleshooting-steps/
  3. https://mypr.co.za/after-upgrading-to-krn-2-my-prepaid-meter-will-not-accept-new-tokens/
  4. https://mypr.co.za/how-to-differentiate-genuine-and-fake-ghd-and-kerastase-products/

Our amateur take on the reasons why are:

  • All four answer questions currently being asked by consumers around the prepaid meter rollout OR around commonly found problems in their everyday lives.
  • All four have good SEO in terms of the target keywords in the title
  • All four solve a problem or, via selective links, give the reader the option to find out more.
  • All four were given an initial social media boost via our own and associated channels.

Our advice:

  • Write articles that solve a problem
  • Do your research to find out what questions people ask time and time again – peruse your company’s help desk data, comment forms, speak to support techs.
  • ONLY give links to sites/resources that will further assist.
  • Promote your article every now and then on social media – look for pages/groups talking about the problem that you solve.
  • Add your article to your newsletter to clients.
  • Write a series of articles and include links to each in the FAQ’s on your web site.
  • Produce a video showing your article in action.
  • Go onto forums pertinent to your industry and look to drop links to your problem solving article/s.
  • Treat each article/press release like a little parcel of gold that you want to highlight and notify people about every now and then.
  • Be proud of your press releases and continue to share them in as many creative ways as possible.

MyGQ.co.za – One More Site Added to MyPR Featured Distribution

In our continuing quest to give paying users of MyPR the exposure that they deserve we have added one more site to the MyPR distribution list.

MyGQ.co.za is mainly focussed on news from Gqeberha and will carry all featured press releases published on MyPR.

Should you wish to make use of the RSS feeds and articles published on MyPR.co.za please do contact us for suggestions, guidance and solutions.

One of the easiest ways to benefit from MyPR’s ever changing and updated content is to make us of the many RSS Feeds on offer.

If your platform is on WordPress then the easiest way to carry MyPR content is via the main RSS feed – https://mypr.co.za/feed – in your ‘Appearnce’ Menu, the drop down will show ‘Widgets’, select this and position (sidebar, footer, header, etc.) and set your desired display parameters.

We also have suggestions for many ways in which you can re-publish full articles to your site on auto-pilot.

Showcase Your Video Releases on MyPR Video For More Reach and Exposure

Our world has moved on somewhat since the advent of the mobile phone as a communication medium. In the beginning we saw people walking and chatting, driving and chatting, flying and chatting…

I recall one lone voice many years ago (before the proliferation of Instant Messaging Apps) predicting that one day we would all communicate via Text only and that YouTube was going to become a great instrument of communication.

In the ‘old days’ we never watched videos as they gobbled up bandwidth which was kinda expensive. Today we feel nothing about binge watching a series the entire weekend.

Almost every person has a YouTube account and many people use YouTube as another marketing arrow in the sling.

Face it – when it comes to marketing and advertising a picture paints a thousand words – so just imagine how many words a video clip paints!

Recognising this shift MyPR has always allowed Featured Press Release Subscribers to add a link to their video at the bottom of a ‘normal’ press release.

Recently we established an area on MyPR – MyPR Video – to allow PR Professionals to submit their video press releases.

Submission Choices are:

  • Free Submission
  • Paid for Submission – select ‘Yes, of Course”.
  • Bulk Video Library Submission

Now, when it comes to bulk video library submission we will do all the heavy lifting for you – all that is required is the link to your youTube or Vimeo Channel, a confirmation of how many videos you require showcased, payment and we will add each one of your videos one by one with a link to your YouTube or Vimeo channel below each release.

Why should you bother?

In December 2023 it was estimated that in ONE internet minute globally people spent 25 100 000 hours on the internet and that the machine that is YouTube has over 500 hours of video uploaded to it.

So finding new content is strictly niche – and difficult.

YouTube allows creators to choose whether they will allow their videos to be embed on other sites or not.

MyPR Video offers an onscreen environment that is far less ‘busy’ and ‘distracting’ as YouTube itself, leading to longer watch times and less ‘click away’ activity.
